Sport Touring Motorcycles

Our forefathers named many of our cities after foreign countries: 219 cities and 64 countries. Forty-three states have cities with country names. Would you have ever guessed that San Marino, California is named after the third deed holder's, grandfather's plantation in Maryland which was named after the country of San Marino? The town of Japan, Missouri took its name from a local Catholic church, the Holy Martyrs of Japan. Many towns, such as Ireland, West Virginia, home of the sport of Irish Road Bowling, get their names in a more common way, from their first settler's home country. These are some of the pleasant mysteries tucked away in cities and towns across America.

Cities and towns have a genealogy as people do. Who settled the town? Where did they come from? Does the culture of the town today resemble that of the one it is named for? Did it ever? Part of the genealogy of a town is its cuisine. Do restaurants in Egypt, Arkansas offer ful mudammas? Can you order blini in Russia, Ohio?

The idea of foreign travel is fascinating, but in this brief look around the United States we see towns with mystery and charm which compare with any overseas. You can experience every cuisine, climate, culture and type of geography on earth without leaving the United States. I'll see you at the poetry festival in Montserrat, (Missouri).

The idea of traveling overseas by motorcycle fascinates many American motorcyclists. Just thinking about motorcycling in Sumatra, England or Morocco stirs the emotions. But reality sets in quickly as questions come to mind, how do I learn to drive there, how do I protect myself, what shots do I need and how do I get a passport? Then you ask yourself, "Can I afford it?" There is an inexpensive way and, as a bonus, you already know the language.

Motorcycle journeys are only limited by the imagination of the rider. A journey may be a simple day trip of 100 miles or a cross-country ride covering thousands. World travel is measured, not in miles, but by continents, countries, oceans or islands visited. If you live in New York, it's possible to visit 4 continents, 13 countries, and 8 islands without leaving the state. Now that's a journey!

Imagine the water fountain conversation on Monday morning when you say that you rode your motorcycle to the Caribbean over the weekend. You can tell everyone about the people and architecture in Bermuda, (Georgia) or Jamaica, (Virginia) and give them a history lesson about Grenada, (Mississippi).

sport bike

Sports bikes are replicas of racing bikes, but they have been specially designed by the manufacturers to make them street-legal and safe. In every other aspect, they?re similar to the machines you see flying around the race tracks on TV.

Built for fantastic speeds and performance, these powerful bikes can top out at speeds in excess of 180 mph. Some of these bikes are so fast, they can do a quarter of a mile in less than 10 seconds.

Now, you must be thinking that machines this fast, when driven on the streets, have the potential to be pretty dangerous. Well, whether or not the bike is dangerous depends more on the rider than the bike.

Sport bikes may offer quick acceleration, but they also have excellent braking and cornering abilities. Used properly, these attributes should make these bikes safe for anybody to ride. Riding such bikes takes a bit of skill that only comes with experience. Unskilled riders on these bikes can be a menace on the streets.

Sports bikes are designed to be streamlined and as aerodynamic as possible, compared to other bikes. The design also has the rider sitting low, which increases the entire aerodynamic quality of the bike. The footrests are set further back than on ordinary bikes, which force the driver into this stance.

When it comes to speed, sports bikes have some of the fastest acceleration around. Some of these bikes have been known to accelerate to speeds of 80 mph in just 3 seconds.

toronto motorcycle show

Many people do not realize what a huge mistake it is to buy a brand new motorcycle. Sure, everyone wants a nice, sparkly, clean, shiny brand new motorcycle, but as soon as you drive it off the showroom floor, you have lost a LOT of money.

This is a mistake many people make when making the decision to purchase a new motorcycle. Buyers feel they are choosing something that is safe from breaking down, they feel they are getting a better deal that way. In reality, if you choose to buy a slightly used motorcycle, you are getting a much better deal.

Think about it this way, the original owner, paid full price, may have used the motorcycle very few times, but he/she (the original owner), took all the depreciation on it. You are now able to buy it for a LOT less than the original owner, yet it still has a warranty, looks new, and IS new to you! You get the best of both worlds that way.

BEST MOTORCYCLE PRICE

The best price for a used motorcycle is $0. Yea, it's when you get it for free. You'll be surprised, but I know this guy who's got a talent in getting used motorcycles for free. Well, yea, he's talking about motorbikes all the time, whoever he's with at the time, and where ever he is at. He got 1976 Honda CB750 from a friend of his good friend which only needed a minor fix (not the friend, of course). Another bike he got from his aunt's third husband or something, I think it was 1973 or 1975 CT 70. Smoke is coming out of it when you start, but my friend still rides it sometimes (the smoke goes away after a minute or two). Recently he told me he pulled next to a guy pulling an old motorbike behind him and started talking. He ended up with the bike, for free. I don't know how he does it or what he says.

Seriously, you need to take your time and investigate the current prices for the brand, year and model of the motorcycle you're about to buy. You can check the blue book value of the motorcycle at many web sites such as Kelly Blue Book or Nada. I personally like to use eBay to research the prices for the used motorbikes. You have to register with eBay (doesn't cost anything), then you'll be able to view completed sales for all motorcycles and other things. eBay often has good deals, but you have to look for them.

If you ended up buying a new motorcycle from a dealer, most of the time you should be able to buy your cycle for less than the advertised price. Take a look at sites like CycleBuy.com to learn the invoice price - what the dealer pays the manufacturer. Most dealers will be happy if they can sell you a bike and make a 10% profit.

SELECT BEST MOTORCYCLE FOR YOU

The most common question I hear is "What's the best bike?"

It's easy when you only have one choice, like Ural in the former Soviet Union. But here, in the land of opportunities and freedom, you've definitely got much more to choose from. There are over 300 motorcycle models you can consider!

Whether you're new to motorcycles or you've been a rider for a long time, you have to do your research first. Look online, in the magazines, read reviews, look at the visual appeal, specifications. If you're a new rider, don't pick an expensive motorbike or a big motorcycle. If it's too big, it might be too hard for you to handle.

If you are a beginner rider, don't fall for the expensive and loud Harley-Davidson motorcycle. While these cruisers are extremely popular, this is definitely not the bike you want to start with. I wouldn't recommend you starting with a sport bike either, unless you are mature enough to handle the power of the sport bike. Consider starting with a used standard motorcycle or even a scooter.

Go to your local motorcycle dealer and work with him to help you in selecting that best bike for you. Sit down on the model you picked, and make sure you're legs are not dragging on the ground. A good dealer will have truly knowledgeable sales people. First, they should be riders themselves. Second, they should be able to answer any and all technical questions. You're not looking for a salesman; you're looking for an adviser.

Now you know what kind of bike you want, think about the price and whether you can spend the money for a new motorbike or you'll be happy with a used one.

Honda VTR250 Competitors of Kawasaki Ninja ZX250R

Honda VTR250Honda VTR250
Kawasaki Ninja ZX250RKawasaki Ninja ZX250R

At first, manufacturers have been producing Honda VTR 250 in 1997 when the market is increasingly targeted at the domestic production for the Japanese market. And after all these years, the Honda VTR 250 eventually exported overseas, especially to Europe with the course design tailored to the desires of local consumers.

So Honda VTR 250 was made of this. With the aim to make it look sexy and powerful tight, this new motor using V-Twin engine 90 degrees, and 4 valve liquid-cooled. Here there is no difference between the bore and stroke it with previous versions, VTR 250 Interceptor 1989-1990 sold in America.

And it seems the two motors are increasingly using the same machine. It was perceived as sufficient capital to compete with the motor manufacturer, Kawasaki, Ninja 250 R. As is well known that the VTR 250 Honda engine has a power equivalent engine Kawasaki Ninja 250 R, which is about 30 hp at maximum torque 10,500 rpm.

Yet there has been no official confirmation of the price for Honda VTR 250 in Europe. If the manufacturer Honda really intend this to menarungkan motorcycle Kawasaki Ninja ZX 250 R, it's likely there will be a price range around USD 5900 or USD 64 million or more (excluding taxes)

2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Vaquero Cruiser Bike

The new 2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Vaquero bagger is all that – and much more. Kawasaki engineers and designers didn’t just throw custom paint and a blacked-out motif on a Vulcan 1700 and call it done. They digested valuable owner and market research, and scrutinized every system – engine, chassis, features, bodywork and appearance – to ensure that the bike being developed squared nicely with what cruiser buyers wanted.

The cruise system can be disengaged in any of the following ways: usage of the brake lever, clutch lever, rear brake pedal, or manually turning the throttle grip past the “closed” position.
